From laboratories to homes, coarse stainless steel wire mesh is used in a variety of industries. Fashionable stainless steel woven mesh fireplace screens protect onlookers from flying sparks. Multipurpose air vents provide ventilation in countless locations. Stainless steel mesh gutter guards keep gutters clear of leaves and other debris.
Stainless wire mesh is celebrated for its exceptional strength and corrosion resistance, making it one of the most popular mesh materials. At TWP alone, we sell more than 135 varieties that are used in agriculture, horticulture, construction and building, and more. These products are versatile enough to serve the demands of many projects and also comply with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) standards.
A coarse stainless steel mesh screen has openings that range from about the size of a pencil’s lead, or about 1/16 inch, and downward to the size of a medium-thick human hair, approximately 1/125 inch. We have larger welded stainless mesh with openings from 1/4 inch to 6 inches in stock, as well as 4 mesh to 10 mesh.
Stainless Steel Hardcloth Delivers Superb Strength
Stainless steel is the result of a brilliant combination of steel, chromium, and nickel. The alloy withstands corrosion and rusting more effectively than plain steel. It also has a finished, streamlined appearance that makes it perfect for both decorative and practical applications. Coarse stainless steel mesh offers many of the same benefits, such as:
Durability is one of the main advantages of stainless steel mesh. Whether sifting powders or acting as a faucet screen, the material is strong enough to get the job done.
T-304
T-304 wire mesh is the standard alloy for stainless steel. It incorporates 18 percent chromium and 8 percent nickel. While T-304 doesn't withstand corrosion as well as the premium T-316 alloy, the more affordable T-304 is a good fit for many applications.
Use T-304 in temperatures that don't exceed:
T-316
As the premium stainless steel alloy, T-316 supplies a high quality that isn't easily matched. It contains a little more nickel than the standard T-304 and bolsters its corrosion resistance with the transition metal molybdenum. That element helps stainless steel mesh withstand wear from salts, acids, and seawater even more effectively.
Try T-316 for temperatures no hotter than:
Adapt Coarse Stainless Steel Mesh to Any Project
Coarse stainless steel wire mesh is relatively simple for users to cut to any desired size. Scissors will often slice through wire diameters between .001 inch to .010 inch. Tin snips work for heavier wire diameters from .011 up to about .047., while an aircraft-style hand sheer will probably satisfy for wire diameters over .047 inches.
