Mole Barriers A physical barrier can be installed to prevent moles from entering a given area. Barriers offer long-term protection, but are only practical for small areas and unique situations. Barriers can be constructed of 1/4-inch mesh galvanized hardware cloth. Bury the mesh to a depth of24 to 30 inches and allow 6 inches to extend above the ground surface.
