We recommend galvanized welded 2 mesh .063 inch wire diameter, which is extremely sturdy. But some people prefer to use galvanized woven 4 mesh .035 inch wire diameter, which is not quite as strong but will exclude mice in addition to raccoons and possums (opossums) and skunks.
